Mayor Palacio congratulates Miss Garifuna Belize, Miss Marcelly Williams

Mayor Palacio congratulates Miss Garifuna Belize, Miss Marcelly Williams and all participants!
On Saturday, November 4th, 2023 the coveted and prestigious title of Miss Garifuna Belize was won by Belmopan’s very own Miss Marcelly Williams of the nation’s capital, Belmopan.
Congrats Queen Williams Miss Garifuna Belize.

Congratations to all participants; you are all bold winners. This event holds a special place in our national pageantries, and by extension, thanks to digital technology.
Mayor acknowledges the NGC and all partners for keeping Garifuna culture alive.

In view of this years’ theme, which focuses on youth, Mayor encourages our young persons to make it their mantra and mandate to pursue truth and excellence in culture, business and politics. We must do our research and tell our own stories, or they will continue to be told by our colonizers. Together, we move forward as we celebrate another year under the theme: Wаmúа, wаnісhіgu lubá ámuñеgü: óundаrunі hаmа nіburеіntіаn lun lаbаgаrіdu Gаrіfunа.” Тhіѕ trаnѕlаtеѕ tо “Оur lаnd, оur сulturе, оur futurе: іnvоlvіng оur youth for Garifuna survival.”
