- Gravel Streets – grading & patching
- Paved Streets – resurfacing & patching
UPGRADING OF EXISTING STREETS
- Gravel Street- Construct additional pavement layer to increase bearing capacity of street originally
- Paving of Streets – surface dressing of existing gravel streets.
CONSTRUCTION OF NEW STREETS
- Preparation of bills & contract documents.
SIDEWALKS
- Construct new ones and restore the old ones.
DRAINAGE
- Restore drainage slabs, clean existing drains, and excavate for new drains within city.
COUNCIL’S PROPERTIES
- Inspect all Council’s buildings, offices and parks for safety and general maintenance.
- Recommend maintenance work and repairs.
BUILDING CONSTRUCTION
- Take necessary steps to ensure compliance with existing legislation and council policies governing building construction by-laws, zoning and other such legislation.
- Ensure City wide inspections are being carried out as it relates to any ongoing construction to ensure compliance with an approved plan. ·
- Maintain vigilance to any illegal construction and ensure remedial action to address such violations.
- Assist Trade Licensing Board with inspection of businesses in regards to the structural aspects of buildings.
BUILDING REGULATIONS TO CONSIDER:
- The building shouldn’t occupy more than 2/3rds of surface area of property, unless approved otherwise.
- Any construction should be at least 4 feet away from the boundary of property.
- All construction should have an approved plan by the council.
- In event that you’re constructing a fence and it shouldn’t be above 6 feet high, unless approved otherwise.
- All driveways over open drains should have an approved plan.
- The building plan should always be on site, in case of a building inspection.
